Hardy Hercules Reel 4" All BrassA fine example of a Hardy Hercules brass fly reel in 4" size. RHW. Nice brass finish with a lovely patina and the reel is in excellent condition overall, with the only exception being that the waisted foot has some bending at either end (I suspect that it could be bent back in careful hands). The front plate has the Hardy stamp and rod in hand logo right underneath it. The ivorine handle spins freely. The original owner's initials "RK" have been

The full wells grip is 6" in length and only mildly soiled

and 8 ½ to 9 ½ ft glass and graphite rods balanced for the 5

and has capacity for a #8 line with 225 yards of backing

the only signs of use are some reel band impressions on the back of the reel seat wood

yet it also presents small dries very effectively

Gear teeth and pawl are still very sharp and the tensioner works great throughout its range

the sections measure approximately 6 1/2 feet and 7 1/2 feet

For sale here is a scarce Hardy Palakona "The Kenya" bamboo rod

Anything you see in the photos on the reel is either lint

I had a very hard time picking it up

perhaps favoring LHW slightly
