There is excellent power and punch to the large-scaled flavors that are a combination of power and refinement while being blessed with an abundance of sappy dry extract that imparts a seductive quality to the mouth coating

and rich one suspects a spoon could stand upright

By contrast the elegant and refined flavors are a good deal more reserved that are like silk on the mid-palate though the hugely long and moderately finish tightens up in a real rush

A Napa Valley classic

There is a marked difference in scale as there is better density to the muscular and intense flavors that brim with evident minerality on the firm

and spicy wood

Aromatically this is compositionally similar to the regular cuvée except that the fruit is slightly denser and there is notably better complexity

Here the wood treatment is equally subtle on the restrained nose that displays fresh and cool aromas of red currant

floral elements and a background note of anise
