Payne Model 201 Bamboo Fly Rod 8' 3/2 #5An EF Payne model 201 bamboo fly rod, 8', 3 piece, 2 tip and built for what feels to me like a #5 line. 4. 4 ounces. No hang tag but the specifications suggest that this is a model 201 and I have listed it as such. Medium action. "Made for Abercrombie & Fitch" so a circa 1960's model. matching wraps with oxblood tipping at the winding check

Near mint condition with a couple of very minor handling marks

An oxidized nickel silver rear cork check divides the 1/4" cork ring reel seat

The reel has no undue play and is a good example of an early wide drum Perfect

5 3/4" heavy western  style grip

The spare spool is in near mint condition with pouch and has some small scratches on the inside of the spool near the cog

These reels come with a fixed check and the line capacity is a DT3 or WF4 without backing

5/64 tip tops

Ferrules are 15/64 with an excellent fit

It's in the exact mint condition in which it left the Bogdan shop

The frame is in great shape
