H.L. Leonard "Volstro" Raised Pillar Fly ReelFor sale here is a reel not seen very often. From what I can gather from my research, it was made by Dave Atwood (Volstro) for HL Leonard back in the 1980's. He is said to have built about 200 of these reels but Leonard never took delivery of the reels because they filed for bankruptcy. The reel is suited for a 6DT or 7WF line and will take a lot of backing. The reel is in near mint condition. It also comes with a spare spool in mint condition. Right
The script on each sections reads:
Near mint condition and looks to have been lawn cast only
Comes with an additional spool in used condition with another line wound on it
These are flawless reproductions made of hard rubber and nickel silver
the rod is imminently fishable as is
A rare piece of poignant history
Blemish-free and unpolished sideplates
All original wraps and 98% of the original bluing
For sale here is a late 1970's H
Weighs 13 ounces and is designed to hold a 13 weight line with 350 yards of backing
The reel is set up for right hand retrieve though it can easily be changed to LHW
The box is in excellent overall working condition
