1920 Vega "Whyte Laydie" Open Back 5-String BanjoI'm no banjo expert, but research leads us to believe this is over 100 years old.. Made in the USA in 1920 based off the serial number, these are a full maple construction open back 5 string tenor banjo with a 27" scale length. Very good condition for it's age as pictured, restrung and given a basic service prior to listing.
American Basswood body wearing a transparent "Charcoal Red" finish (Fender Japan's method for accentuating some of the grain)
rotary tones and deep throbbing sub bass
Made by the Fujigen factory in late 1977
The bridge is a Floyd Rose-style TRS-101 double locking tremolo with a locking nut
One of the first "student" models Fender ever produced that has since become a favourite among collectors and players alike
Lightly used condition with some scuffs and light wear to the finish as pictured
Good overall condition
fretboard oil and restring
crisp single-coll sound
appears to be all original or very close to it
meaning you get a lot more tuning stability than the later models with the wobbly tremolo system
